How To Wake Up Feeling Refreshed

This week is all about waking up the right way. So here is a quick guide to helping you get that perfect morning you have been craving for!

I myself have tried and tested these methods so I can personally vouch that these do in fact help. However, each person has their own routine for waking up. So if you feel happy and rejuvenated when you wake up then you are doing it right!


1. The first thing you should do when you wake up is to have a glass of cold water

  • This helps get your digestive system going and flushes out any toxins in your body.

  • Furthermore, your body just went around 8 hours without water so you are definitely going to need to replenish your fluids.

  • It's best to have a glass of water prepared the night before so the first thing you do is have a glass of water!

I struggled with being able to have breakfast in the morning. I knew I had to eat but I was just not hungry. However, after drinking water as soon as I woke up, I began to feel hungry and have my much-needed nutrients!

2. Listen to upbeat music while brushing your teeth!

  • Brushing your teeth while listening to a song like Hey Ya! by OutKast will better your mood and get your motivation going for the day!

  • Feel free to dance along as well!

  • You can listen to any song that you enjoy, which is why this method is so great!


3. Make your bed.

  • No wonder it's the first thing the armed forces teach their new recruits. It establishes discipline and gives you a clear and clean environment to think and be productive.

  • Perhaps you already do this but actually knowing that making your bed would boost your productivity and clear your mind helps you feel obliged to do it every time.


4. Meditate

  • Having quiet time to yourself before the chaotic day starts is the best way to maintain self-discipline.

  • Meditating is amazing because by having time to yourself you will understand where your values lie and what you want to achieve for the day, even if it means getting through a day of work.

  • After meditating you will also feel more productive and wide awake which is perfect if you want to get any tasks done in the morning, like working on your hobbies or starting a business


5. Have a good nights sleep

  • The best way to get a great morning is to get an even better night's sleep!

Cut caffeine, alcohol and smoking before bed
Reduce screen time before you fall asleep
Do something that relaxes you, like meditating or reading
Have a face cleansing routine for feeling fresh
Most importantly imagine what you are going to do tomorrow because that is what's going to get you out of bed!


The only way to have a productive and mindful day is to start it right. You don't have to do every step listed above, but incorporating at least one of these would vastly improve your morning.
